Where most books actually break

It rarely fails at the audit. It fails quietly, every month before it.

Books that fall behind

Bookkeeping gets treated as a month-end chore — so by filing season, entries are missing, reconciliations are late, and no one has a clear read on where the business stands.

A different consultant for every emirate

Mainland, free zone, and cross-emirate operations each carry their own filing rules — many businesses end up coordinating separate consultants per licence, with no one owning the full picture.

Compliance treated as an afterthought

VAT, corporate tax, ESR, UBO — the obligations keep expanding, and a missed deadline carries a real penalty, not a warning.

Al Safawi exists to close that gap — one ledger, one team, every obligation tracked before it becomes a problem.

Operations Manager

Free Zone, Ras Al Khaimah

Corporate tax registration felt overwhelming until they walked us through exactly what applied to us and handled the filing end to end.

Founder, Trading Company

Abu Dhabi

We used to juggle three different consultants for our licences across Dubai and Sharjah. Al Safawi took over all of it and our VAT filings haven’t been late since.

FAQ
Q1

Do I need VAT registration if my business is in a UAE free zone?

Free zone companies follow the same VAT registration threshold as mainland companies — registration is mandatory once taxable turnover exceeds AED 375,000 in a 12-month period, regardless of free zone or mainland status. Some Qualifying Free Zone Persons have separate corporate tax treatment, which is worth reviewing separately.

Q2

Can one accounting firm handle compliance across multiple emirates?

Yes. VAT and corporate tax are federal (FTA) obligations that apply the same way across all seven emirates, so a single accounting team can manage filings for a business regardless of which emirate it's licensed in, as long as the firm is familiar with each emirate's mainland and free zone nuances.

Q3

What happens if I miss a VAT or corporate tax filing deadline in the UAE?

The FTA applies fixed and escalating penalties for late VAT and corporate tax filings or payments, starting from a fixed fine and increasing the longer the filing remains outstanding. Consistent bookkeeping through the year is what keeps a business ahead of these deadlines rather than reacting to them.

Q4

What accounting software do you work with?

We're software-agnostic — Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Tally and Xero are all supported. If books don't exist yet, we'll set one up matched to your business size and reporting needs.
